Users could retrieve photos and files using Yahoo Briefcase until it was shut down.

Yahoo! Briefcase allowed users to upload and share files and photos worldwide. Users could access these files at any time, and remove and add files as needed. Each user received 30MB of storage up until the closure of Yahoo! Briefcase in 2009.

  1. Notification

    • An email went out to Briefcase users by Yahoo! to warn users that the Briefcase would be closing after almost 10 years in existence. This email went out to users on January 28, 2009. Yahoo! also provided notice on the Yahoo! Briefcase website to inform users of this decision during the same time emails went out.

    Reason

    • Yahoo! decided to close Briefcase due to the continued decrease in Briefcase users. Users began using other popular services with additional space and sharing capabilities to host photos and files.

    Closure

    • Users were able to access the Yahoo! Briefcase to retrieve and save uploaded photos and files until the official closing date. Yahoo! Briefcase officially closed down on March 30, 2009. Users may no longer access Yahoo! Briefcase and will not find direct links to the service through the Yahoo! website.
