Once upon a time, girls stored all their secrets in a handwritten journal. Now, tech-savvy girls keep their thoughts locked away in password-protected diaries stored on their computers, using videos, sound-clips, and documents to chronicle their lives.

    • It used to be that girls' diaries were protected by those little (often heart-shaped) locks on the side of the book. Now, secrets can be protected using passwords; one electronic diary even has a tiny key pad located on the USB drive which holds the diary information. No more hiding keys from your little brother!

    Reminders

    • For girls who want to keep a diary but have trouble remembering to write in it, many diary software apps offer scheduled update reminders. Set the alarm to go off daily, weekly, or for special events, so you will remember to write down your thoughts.

    Media

    • Diary software also offers the opportunity to store information via multimedia, not just written words. Keep track of secrets and thoughts using photographs and video, or create digital scrapbook pages. Diary software can also store addresses and schedules.
