OpenOffice is a free suite of programs.

OpenOffice is a free open-source suite of programs that includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation program, drawing program and database. You can download the entire suite or any single program or combination of programs.

  1. Writer

    • OpenOffice Writer is a word processing program that is similar to MS Word. Features include instructional wizards, automatic correction, desktop publishing tools, and the option to convert documents to PDF.

    Calc

    • Calc is the OpenOffice spreadsheet program, similar to MS Excel. Features include natural-language formulas, instructional wizards and downloadable templates.

    Impress

    • Impress is OpenOffice's presentation program, similar to MS PowerPoint. Features include the ability to import from and export to PowerPoint, create 2-D and 3-D images, and use a variety of drawing and diagramming tools.

    Draw

    • Draw is the OpenOffice graphics program, which is similar to MS Visio. You can create objects in two and three dimensions, create flowcharts and diagrams, and import all common graphics formats.

    Base

    • Base is the OpenOffice database program, which is similar to MS Access. It has features for both beginning and power users.
