Italian-Themed Weddings
If you or your fiance is of Italian heritage or you simply like the idea of having a wedding that incorporates Italian themes, include a variety of Italian-themed accents in your ceremony. Italian weddings are largely centered around family and loved ones, which should make your day even more memorable.

Significance of Food
-
The meal is perhaps the most integral part of the Italian wedding celebration, since the whole family, including small children, share in the meal. A traditional wedding banquet can have up to 14 courses, including appetizers and desserts, so rent a large banquet hall for the reception. Traditional Italian wedding favors include candy-coated almonds called confetti. Confetti are given to guests in a group of fives, to represent happiness, wealth, health, longevity and children.
Geography
-
Include the colors of the Italian flag (red, green, and white) in your wedding ceremony and reception decor to show national pride. Use lush green plants and red roses to decorate white wedding arches or reception tables with white tablecloths. Using decor from a certain region of Italy also serves as decoration. For instance, Tuscan wedding themes feature shades of gold and muted burgundies and greens for flower arrangements and wedding party outfits.

Spiritual Importance
-
Since most Italian weddings are held in a church--the event is considered very spiritual--hold your ceremony in a cathedral with Italian decor to incorporate this theme. In an Italian wedding, prayers are often recited over the bride and groom to pronounce blessings on the couple and the family they will raise together. A large ribbon is traditionally placed around the church entrance, which indicates that guests are coming to witness a couple being "tied together."
