As of the Texas 2010-2011 hunting season, pheasant season runs from Oct. 30 through Feb. 27 in Chambers, Jefferson and Liberty counties, and you can hunt pheasant in the Panhandle's 37 other counties from Dec. 4 through Jan. 2. The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife website lists the open pheasant-hunting counties on its website.
Hunting License Requirements

In the state of Texas, pheasant hunting licenses are priced differently for resident and nonresident hunters. Texas residents are required to purchase a Texas Hunting License, which starts at $25 as of July 2010 and is available with youth, senior and military discounts. Nonresident pheasant hunters must obtain a Non-Resident Banded Bird Hunting License, which is available for $27 as of July 2010. Both licenses are available for purchase online at the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife.

Pheasant Hunting Tips

According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine website, hunting pheasant requires a spacing of approximately 20 yards, with dogs kept close and noise kept to a minimum.
