Midland Texas Hunting
Located in west-central Texas' Midland County, the city of Midland is known for the birthplace of both ex-President George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, but it is also a popular hot spot for year-round game, bird or waterfowl hunting.
-
Legal Species
-
For game and wild bird hunting, Midland is open to white-tailed and mule deer, javelina, Rio Grande turkey, alligator, squirrel, rabbits and hare hunting. Waterfowl hunting is permitted in Midland for duck, goose, sandhill crane, king, clapper, sora and Virginia rails, common and purple gallinules, woodcock and common snipe.
Hunting Licenses
-
All Midland hunters are required to obtain a hunting license in order to hunt in the state of Texas, with the exception of fur-bearing animal hunting, which does not require a license. Available for purchase online at the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife website, hunting licenses may also require additional habitat- or species-specific stamps and permits.
-
Regulations
-
In Midland, some species are designated a hunting season, per-day bag limit and per-season possession limit, which is based on a state-assigned county or zone association. Midland resides within both the North and Central Dove Zones and is in the northern region of Rio Grande turkey-hunting zone.
