Waterfowl Hunting in Katy, Texas
Located in southeastern Texas' Harris County, the city of Katy offers waterfowl hunting for ducks, geese, sandhill cranes, King and clapper, sora and Virginia rails, common and purple gallinules, woodcock and common snipe.

Hunting Licenses

Waterfowl hunters of all ages must obtain a hunting license to participate in any of the hunting seasons in Katy, Texas. Licenses are available for purchase at local sporting good stores, over the phone or online at the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife website. To hunt sandhill crane, a federal Sandhill Crane Permit is required, which is also available online.
Bag Limits

As of the 2010 through 2011 season, bag limits for duck are six total per hunter, per day, of which no more than five may be mallards, two of hens, three of caup, two of redheads, one of pintail and one of dusky duck, after the first five days of the season.
Light geese are limited to 20 total per day, and dark geese have per-day limits of three Canada geese and two white-fronted geese. Located in Zone C of the sandhill crane zoning map, Katy's daily bag limit for sandhill crane is two per hunter, per day. The season-long possession limits for each species are double the daily amount.

The Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife website publishes its waterfowl hunting season dates annually in the fall, with the exception of the teal duck hunting season, which as of the 2010 through 2011 hunting season runs from Sept. 11 through Sept. 26.
