Mini Laptops Vs. Regular Laptops
In recent years, manufacturers have introduced a miniature laptop, called a netbook, smaller and less expensive than a laptop, or notebook. While netbooks score well in a number of areas, regular-sized laptops are still popular, too.
-
Power Consumption
-
Netbooks use less power consumption than a notebook, a popular aspect of the smaller device. Display screens consume a large amount of power. Since netbooks power smaller screens, their batteries last two to three times longer.
Drive Space
-
Notebooks have more drive space. To save on cost, space and power requirements, most netbooks do not include CD/DVD drives or space for an additional hard disk.
-
External Ports
-
Notebooks have more external ports. Netbooks are less sophisticated to cut costs, so you will typically find just a few external ports, such as USB and basic audio and video, rather than the wealth of ports and slots available on laptops.
Performance
-
Netbooks use less sophisticated processor chips to save on cost and power. Playing a 3D game or watching high-definition video on a netbook won't provide the same experience as the average laptop.
Price
-
Netbooks generally cost less than a laptop. But you can also find high-end netbooks that blur the line.
