Definition of MLM Software
In a multi-level marketing (MLM) company, membership and compensation information can be complicated and almost endless. Software systems need to match the many current and future needs of these companies.
-
Membership Database
-
The software must track membership genealogies---how distributors are related to each other through sponsorship. These relationships can be just a few levels, or generations, deep or five, 10, 20, even hundreds of levels deep. With detailed information on each member, the software has to support millions of records.
Communications
-
The MLM software enables complex communication systems. Information goes from company to members and back again. It generates confirmations of orders, promotions and updates.
-
Customer Processes
-
Product-based companies need a database that lists and describes their products and services, along with costs and commissions. Some companies have only one or two products/services while others have hundreds.
Commissions
-
A large number of associates in your group is the key to success in MLM. Distributors earn on their sales and often on the sales of many others. One distributor alone could have hundreds, even thousands, who earn her commissions. The software tracks these commissions, processes checks and detailed reports.
Company Needs
-
The company's management also needs summaries of how and where their business is progressing, financial figures, inventory, sales and membership stats. If the company goes to other countries, the software needs to manage that expansion also.
Precautions
-
An incomplete software package or one with glitches can cause increasingly complex problems. Perhaps with a qualified MLM consultant, decide exactly what you need. Check up on the software company's support team and history. Take your time, do it right the first time for that will save you much time and many troubles later.
