First Aider Job Description
Local, state or federal laws require large companies, especially those with employees using machinery and heavy equipment, to educate all workers in basic first aid procedures. A first aider, also known as a first aid attendant, instructs the staff in these procedures.

Key job responsibilities include making sure all company employees are adept at using the tools and materials in first aid kits and are aware of which emergency numbers to call for help. Training workers in basic life support techniques, increasing awareness of potential safety hazards and educating workers on safe equipment and tool handling is required.
Skill Requirements

Good communication and presentation skills enable the first aider to clearly convey his information to many levels of skilled and unskilled workers. Organizational abilities keep records up-to-date and first aid kits fully stocked.

Preferred Background

Preferred experience includes teaching basic first aid and life support procedures. A background in disseminating information to groups and concisely answering their questions is desirable. Related certificates in first aid and CPR are generally required to be a first aider.
