Popularity
-
Bohemian Chic, or boho, reached the height of it's popularity in 2004 to 2005. It was associated with actresses like Sienna Miller and Mischa Barton in the United States. The trend was one that started at around 2000, and started to lose favor by 2009.
Designers
-
The bohemian chick look took inspiration from hippie aesthetics of the mid to late 1960's. Cult designers Matthew Williamson epitomized the look in his collections. Several of the prominent figures of the movement developed their own clothing and accessories lines: Elizabeth and James, The Row, Kate Moss for Topshop, Harlow were developed by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Kate Moss, and Nicole Richie, respectively.

2004
-
The height of Boho-Chic popularity was 2004. That year's bohemian staples included white peasant skirts and metallic accents like belts and jewelry. The cuts of the pieces were always loose, and floaty with ethnic accents. At the core of the look is the embodiment of a romantic and free spirit.
2007 to 2010
-
While the original bohemian aesthetic had started to wind down, proponents translated their aesthetics to the "folk art," or Fo-ho, look. Prominent pieces included smock tops and loose dresses with folk accents. Bandannas and other headpieces gained prominence for a few seasons.
Aesthetics
-
While the aesthetics of the look draw on the indifference to fashion that could be ascribed to the 1960's, the 21st century revival spun a luxurious version of the look. Bohemian-chic entailed expensive and designer clothing and accessories, and allowed the high-end brand Gucci to see a brief revival in popularity.
