Rental Car Agreements
Rental car agreements outline various rules and regulations for the person renting it. Drivers must have a valid license and, depending on where they are renting, be a certain age. Rental agreements give drivers the option of buying insurance, and specify when the car must be returned. Drivers are not responsible for any damages already on the car. Additional drivers may be added to the agreement for a fee.

Charges
-
Different rental car companies have different rates, but most have similar policies for day rates. Cars are usually rented in 24-hour installments. Companies often charge you for every hour past the 24th that you keep the car, as well as by mileage.
Age
-
Different companies have different age requirements in order to sign a car rental agreement. You have to be at least 25 to rent a car from Hertz, Alamo and Avis, for example. Dollar, Enterprise and Budget rent cars to those who are 21 years and older.

Insurance
-
If you already have liability insurance when you rent a car, then the car itself is covered in the event of an accident. Not all insurance policies cover all damages, such as collision and comprehensive damage. Rental car companies offer all forms of insurance, usually at a day rate.
Additional Drivers
-
Some rental car companies may charge an extra daily or flat fee for additional drivers. Most car companies allow the spouse of the person renting the car to drive it at no extra cost.
International Driving Permit
-
In order to rent a car in another country, or for a person from another country to rent a car in the United States, he must have an International Driving Permit, which is valid for one year.
