Interior Decoration of a Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the simplest spaces in the home to decorate because of its multitude of varied elements. Counters, cabinets, floors, walls and windows are all ideal places to add interest when decorating.

Counters

Kitchen decorators must account for counters. Old counters can be fixed-up by painting or wallpapering them. Newer counters and those made of designer materials, such as granite, should be prominently featured.

Cabinets

Consider re-staining or repainting kitchen cabinets. Replacing the door fronts with clear glass can bring old cabinets up to date. Try replacing the cabinet hardware for a quick and easy cabinet face lift.

Floors

Replacing the floors is one of the simplest elements in the kitchen to change for the better. Choose flooring that's both modern and timeless, such as durable, easy-to-care-for, eco-friendly bamboo.

Walls

Take the counters, cabinets and floors into consideration when choosing the right color for kitchen walls. Choose a neutral color for walls and decorate the backsplash with glass or tin tiles, or wallpaper.

Windows

Cover kitchen windows with easy to clean coverings, such as cafe curtains. Blinds get greasy easily and are difficult to clean. Tie-up curtains are particularly stylish in kitchen spaces.
