Studio Monitor Vs. Computer Speaker

Studio Monitor Vs. Computer Speaker thumbnail
Most computers come with two standard speakers or built-in speakers.

Whether producing audio or playing music from a computer, a type of computer speaker is needed to play sounds. Many people confuse studio monitors as regular computer speakers. Studio monitors are different from regular speaker monitors, however.

  1. Computer Speakers

    • Computer speakers are speakers designed to plug into a computer's audio output.

    Built-in Speakers

    • Built-in speakers are computer speakers that are built into the computer. This type of computer speaker is most common on laptops.

    Surround Sound Speakers

    • Surround sound computer speakers are the most commonly used with desktop computers. These speakers are usually made up of several speakers and a subwoofer.

    Studio Monitors

    • Studio monitors are speakers designed to produce flat and equal tones of bass, treble and mid-range.

    Difference

    • Studio monitors are better for producing audio because computer speakers are designed to "enhance" the sound from a computer.
