Business Head Job Description

A business head runs all aspects of a company. Business heads hold titles such as company president or Chief Executive Officer (CEO). They are in charge of making sure a company exceeds expectations, or at the very least, remains profitable.

Basics

Business heads oversees all managers within the company, ensuring that employees understand the company’s mission and policies. They typically focus on marketing and finances, finding ways to keep the company on the minds of the general public.

Skills

Business heads must be excellent leaders and extremely innovative. They must be confident, driven, organized and possess strong delegation skills.

Education

Regardless of industry, business heads usually need at least a bachelor’s degree in their chosen field. Almost all are required to have spent plenty of time as managers.

Prospects

Business heads hold high-profile positions and are usually given little incentive to leave. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of top executives is expected to experience little growth from 2008 to 2018.

Earnings

Business heads are among the highest earners in the country. In May 2008, top executives earned a median salary of more than $91,500 per year, the BLS reported.
