Mold Training Certification

Certified Mold Inspectors, or CMIs, are specialists trained to determine the presence of microbial contamination and the source of moisture intrusion to structures and materials. Organizations such as the Mold Inspection Consulting and Remediation Organization, or MICRO, offer several types of mold inspection certification.

  1. Types

    • In addition to the standard CMI certification, mold inspectors can earn credentials as commercial building mold inspectors or mold remediation contractors. Mold remediators are trained in how to remove and clean materials contaminated with mold.

    • Mold inspection certification courses may vary by provider, but cover topics such as indoor air quality, toxic mold solutions, and how mold and moisture can impact a home. Students in a MICRO mold certification course are taught based on protocols established by such organizations as the Environmental Protection Agency, or EPA.
