Human resources (HR) executives are professionals with a high-profile job to do. They play an integral part in a company’s management of personnel and serve as the head of the HR department.

  1. Strategic Functions

    • The HR executive works closely with a company’s CEO and senior management to develop strategic plans related to employees. Retention strategies, organizational development and performance planning are areas managed by the HR executive.

    Compliance

    • HR executives oversee the provision of compliance deliverables. They create policies and procedures and codes of conduct and maintain enforcement activities to ensure the organization is adhering to legal statutes like the Fair Labor Standards Act.

    Employment and Recruitment

    • According to the U.S. Department of Labor, HR executives are in charge of employment and recruitment activities. They write job descriptions and design recruitment strategies and activities.

    Salaries and Benefits

    • HR executives set salary scales and manage the benefit packages offered to employees. They ensure that employees receive essential information and are there to help employees with questions about tax forms or the company’s 401k program.

    Safety and Wellness

    • Employee safety and wellness is managed and overseen by HR executives. They design safety and wellness initiatives, programs, activities and policies to maximize the health, safety and welfare of the workforce.
