"Call of Duty 3," released in 2006, is the third title in the "Call of Duty" video game franchise. The game takes place in a World War II setting and features single and multiplayer modes.

  1. Consoles

    • Activision released "Call of Duty 3" on five different consoles: PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, XBox, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. The XBox 360 version features downloadable content for players.

    Campaigns

    • The game features various campaigns revolving around different characters for gamers to play. The American campaign lets players control Private Nichols in combat. The combined British and French campaign puts players in the shoes of Sergeant James Doyle. The Canadian campaign concerns Private Cole, and the Polish campaign centers around Corporal Bohater Woycheck.

    Weapons

    • "Call of Duty 3" features many types of weapons, including pistols, machine guns, submachine guns, rifles, support weapons, anti-armor weapons and explosives. The weapons available vary depending on the campaign.

    Online

    • Gamers can play "Call of Duty 3" online against others on the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles via the XBox Live service and the Playstation Network, respectively.

    Sequels

    • The game has three sequels. "Call of Duty: World at War," "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" and "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" round out the list of full sequels. Expansion packs for different games have also been released, including packs for "Call of Duty: World at War" and "Modern Warfare."
