Registered Dietician Training
Registered dieticians work in a variety of setting to help to design meal plans for individuals. To do so, these professionals must earn a college education and continue with specialized training.

College Education/Training

Training to become a registered dietician first requires earning a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE).
Practice Program

To complete registered dietician training, students must complete a CADE-accredited supervised practice program. The program usually lasts 6 to 12 months and may be combined with undergraduate or graduate studies.

Commission on Dietetic Registration

The Commission on Dietetic Registration offers board specialist training to dieticians in the areas of gerontological nutrition, sports dietetics, pediatric nutrition and renal nutrition.
State Requirements

Some states have regulations regarding specialized training which must be completed before working in the field.
Continuing Education and Training

To maintain registration and to stay current with training issues, registered dieticians are required to continue professional education coursework.
