Urea Lotion 40 is a topical medicine used to soften thick, rough areas of the skin and nails. It is the generic form of brand-name treatments like Carmol 40 and Keralac. Does this Spark an idea?

    • Urea Lotion 40 is a debriding agent. It breaks down and loosens dead skin and pus, allowing it to shed more easily.

    Use

    • Urea Lotion 40 is used to treat a variety of hyperkeratotic skin conditions, including eczema, corns and calluses.

    Method

    • Urea Lotion 40 should be applied to affected areas twice daily, unless otherwise instructed by a doctor. Cover the affected area with a small amount. Wash your hands before and applying (unless your hands are the area to be treated), and wash off any lotion that you got on skin not in the affected area.

    Side Effects

    • Common, temporary side effects of Urea Lotion 40 are mild skin irritation, stinging, itching and burning. More severe side effects should be reported to a doctor and include hives, difficulty breathing and swelling of the face.

    Considerations

    • Pregnant and nursing women should consult a professional before using Urea Lotion 40, as its effects on the developing fetus and breast milk are unknown.
