Perennial Hay Fever
There are two types of hay fever: seasonal and perennial. If you have seasonal hay fever, most likely it is due to certain plants pollinating. Someone that has perennial hay fever has allergies all year round.

Hay fever stems from allergic responses to pollen and other substances. It is an immune disorder. It can also be known as allergic rhinitis.
Causes

Hay fever is caused by your immune system overreacting due to inhaled pollen or other allergens. The bloodstream is flooded with chemicals that inflame the nasal passage lining, sinuses and eyelids. This response, otherwise known as an allergic reaction, also may cause sneezing.

Perennial

Perennial means something occurs all year round. Those with perennial hay fever feel symptoms of allergies all year round. Typically, people with perennial hay fever have allergies from things found indoors versus outdoors.
Perennial Allergens

Someone with perennial allergens may be allergic to house dust mites, feathers and animal dander. These can be found all over the house including in pillows, bedding, draperies, upholstery and carpeting. Mold can also cause hay fever and is found in damp areas.
Treatment

To treat perennial hay fever, first try to eliminate the irritant. Removing allergens, or avoiding them, is not always possible. Over-the-counter and prescription medications are available. Treatment may also include allergy shots.
