Audio-video cables are used to connect the Slingbox SOLO.

The Slingbox SOLO allows you to stream video from your television, cable box or DVR over the Internet so you can watch it on your computer, mobile phone or other hand-held device when away from home.

  1. Additional Features

    • In addition to viewing streaming video, the Slingbox SOLO allows you to control live and pre-recorded video. With the included Slingbox SOLO software, you can program future DVR recordings. The Slingbox SOLO can be connected to home security cameras as well.

    Electronics Compatibility

    • The Slingbox SOLO is compatible with DVRs, cable boxes, DVD players, HD televisions, VCRs, security cameras and satellite receivers that use infrared (IR) remote controls. According to the company’s website, “The Slingbox SOLO supports over 10,000 popular devices and models.”

    Computer Requirements

    • The Slingbox SOLO supports Macintosh and Windows operating systems. Computer system requirements change as newer models become available. Consult the company’s website, located in the Resources section, for system requirements before you purchase a Slingbox SOLO.

    Other Device Requirements

    • The Slingbox SOLO works with all mobile devices supported by their SlingPlayer Mobile software. A link in the Resources section provides a list of supported devices. The SlingPlayer Mobile software isn’t included with the Slingbox SOLO and costs an additional charge to download.

    Limitations

    • The Slingbox SOLO accepts HD video input but downsizes the stream to standard-definition video when it plays over the Internet. When the Slingbox SOLO is accessing a device remotely, it cannot be used at its physical location. The Slingbox SOLO will only stream to one remote device at a time.
