Quality managers go by many job titles, such as quality control specialists, inspectors, testers and similar names. Most work in manufacturing.

  1. Duties

    • Warehouse quality managers maintain the quality of the goods produced by their company through visual inspection, mechanical testing and weight measurement. Managers may also oversee other workers performing similar duties.

    Environment

    • Warehouse quality managers spend a great deal of time standing and sometimes moving heavy objects, depending on the industry in which they work. Evening, overnight, weekend and overtime work remains common, especially during peak production times.

    Training

    • Warehouse quality managers need at least a high school diploma, though an associate degree in quality control management may be required for some positions.

    Salary

    • The median wage for all quality control employees was just over $15 per hour according to the most recent statistics available from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Those working in aerospace products and manufacturing, along with those in motor vehicle-related positions, made the most money on average.

    Advancement

    • Jobs in warehouse quality management continue to increase in automation and computerization, making training in these areas extremely relevant. Certification from the American Society for Quality in one of fifteen different categories also increases advancement opportunities.
