Show halters are typically made of rolled leather and may have embellishments such as beads or metal stampings. These halters lack a throat latch and chin strap so that the judges can see more of the horse's face.

Safety Concerns

A proper fit is the key to preventing rubs and sores. Never turn a horse loose with a halter that doesn't have built-in breakaway features that will help prevent injury.
