Legal documents are used by surety and bail bond agents.

Legal documents are required for a surety bond with a bail bond agent in order to ensure that the accused will appear in court. Documents are also important to assure collection of collateral from a guarantor, because they are used to secure the remaining balance of bail.

Agreement

This legal agreement between the bail indemnitor and the bail agency includes a promise that the defendant will return for necessary court appearances.

Notice to Indemnitor

This document clearly states that as the signer of the bail bond agreement, the indemnitor understands that he is responsible for the defendant's court appearances.

Case Documents

Other documents are specific to each state and/or case and may include agreements concerning property bonds, corporate surety bonds and cash bonds.

Federal Documents

In federal cases, bail bond documents must adhere to their guidelines and all sureties used must be listed on the Department of Treasury's listing of approved sureties.

Court Documents

Bail bond agents use various forms to keep the courts informed of their status with the defendant. Some of these may include appeal bond, federal bail bond, fugitive bail bond and indictment bail bond documents.
