Comparison of Luxury SUVs
Sport utility vehicles are sold by most luxury brands, offering buyers many of the same amenities found in other upscale models. While full-sized models offer limited appeal, more fuel-efficient, medium-sized models are still in demand, including these four from Lexus, Cadillac, BMW and Mercedes.

Lexus RX
-
According to US News & World Report, the Lexus RX 350 is the top-ranking luxury SUV. The magazine cites ease of driving, high-tech features and luxury appointments among its important attributes. Now in its third generation, the Lexus RX is available in front- or all-wheel-drive, with a hybrid model optional.
Cadillac SRX
-
The second-generation Cadillac SRX is smaller, lighter and priced lower than its predecessor. Edmunds.com calls the SRX competent, but advises buyers to look at the turbocharged model, liking its "hushed and stylish cabin."
-
BMW X3
-
Introduced in 2004, an all-new BMW X3 is expected in 2011. The BMW features an xDrive four-wheel-drive system, offering buyers a pair of six cylinder engines to choose from. Automobile Magazine remarked positively about the X3's bloodlines, calling the X3 a "well-executed sibling to the popular X5."
Mercedes GLK350
-
Introduced in 2010, the GLK350 represents the smallest Mercedes SUV available. According to Businessweek, the Mercedes offers an "ultra-smooth and quiet ride, classy interior, relatively low base price." Lack of cargo space and poor fuel mileage are among detractions noted.
