Design of Double Edge Razor

A double edge razor is shaped similar to a disposable razor but has two key differences. Instead of a plastic razor cartridge, these razors hold an actually razor blade. These razors can also be flipped around to alternate between each side.
Double Edge Razor Blade
-
A double edge razor blade is a thin piece of metal that has a razor on each side. These razors are very cheap--often costing less than 10 cents each.

Using a Double Edge Razor
-
Double edge razors must be held at a thirty degree angle to your skin. It is important to gently shave in straight up or down motions.
Nicks and Cuts
-
Double edge razor blades are famous for leaving the user with small nicks and cuts. These nicks and cuts tend to happen when the razor first makes contact with the skin and when the user either presses to hard or moves the razor left to right.
Serious Injuries
-
While rare, it is possible to severely cut your face with a double edge razor. These shavers are much sharper than disposable razors and can leave cuts that require stitches.
