Mold and Arthritis

If you are living in a home riddled with mold, you are apt to get sick, and you may end up with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or other serious illnesses.

  1. Mycotoxins

    • When you breathe in mold spores and mycotoxins, which are airborne toxins produced by a fungus, this can wreak havoc on your health.

    Identification

    • The most dangerous molds are Chaetomium and Stachybotrys, according to Mold-help.org.

    Immune System

    • Exposure to mold, particularly if it is long-term exposure, breaks down your immune system and may affect your joints.

    The Elderly

    • If your immune system is already compromised, which is often the case with the elderly, you will be even more susceptible to mold exposure.

    Get Tested

    • If you are sick and think it may be due to mold exposure, you can be tested for mycotoxicosis, according to Mold-survivor.com.
