Resocialization of Inmates
Resocialization is generally the process of moving, or being moved, to a new environment where the individual needs to change his or her identity in some form. Jails offer structured programs which may vary by prison, but inmates also create their own subcultures.

Inmates form communities of believers At the Washington County Jail, prisoners are given schedules of religious services so they can practice with their peers. Religion based life skills and substance abuse classes are offered as well.
Education

Inmates continue their education Also at Washington County and other jails, a number of education courses are offered in order to further the learning that one had before prison. Levels include ESL, high school completion, GED completion and more.

Baseball is a popular pasttime Many prisons feature recreational programs such as basketball, football and softball leagues.
Vocational Training

Inmates put their skills to use during and after prison Some inmates opt to learn a trade such as auto repair, small appliance repair, heating and air conditioner maintenance and furniture making.
Jobs

Prisoners have employment opportunities Prisoners also may work in order to be part of the community. Frequent opportunities include work on prison farms or jobs in the laundry room or cafeteria.
