Strobe lights emit flashing bright light at set intervals. They are often used during parties or at nightclubs. Strobe lights are also used in emergency situations, as warning or caution signals.

  1. Flicker Effect

    • Health problems caused by strobe lights are due to the flickering of the light. Some conditions only rear themselves when the light is emitted at certain intervals.

    Epilepsy

    • Strobe light flashing can affect people with photosensitive epilepsy, initiating an epileptic seizure. This is the most commonly know side effect of strobe lights.

    Headaches

    • Exposure to strobe lights is often a trigger for migraine sufferers. It can also cause regular headaches in people who are not prone to migraines.

    Disorientation

    • Strobe lights interfere with normal vision, creating visual disorientation. This may lead to dizziness, nausea and even fainting.

    Anxiety

    • Strobe lights in dark rooms create a surreal effect. This may be unsettling to some people, causing them to become anxious or scared.
