Hydrogen Cars Vs. Fossil Fuel Cars

Hydrogen Cars Vs. Fossil Fuel Cars

Hydrogen fuel cells are a leader in alternative fuel industries. There has been a tremendous amount of money spent on research and development that focuses on alternative fuels such as hydrogen fuel technology to compete with cars that operate off of traditional fossil fuels.

  1. Emissions

    • Traditional fossil fuel vehicles release carbon dioxide as their emission; hydrogen vehicles release water vapor.

    Environment

    • Carbon dioxide is a main contributor to environmental issues, such as global warming--which is a reason why alternative fuels such as hydrogen are currently being pursued.

    Efficiency

    • A car running on hydrogen can travel twice as far as a car running on the equivalent amount of gasoline--making hydrogen cars far more efficient.

    Sound

    • Traditional combustion engines produce a lot of noise compared to those with hydrogen-powered vehicles.

    Practicality

    • The main reason why hydrogen is not widespread is the lack of technology. Since there are very few refilling stations--along with an expensive price tag--for vehicles that operate off of hydrogen, the technology is slow to develop.
