Ford Explorer Trucks Warranty Information

The Ford Explorer is available in two configurations: an SUV and a truck, usually referred to as the Ford Explorer Sportrac. The Sportrac and the Explorer SUV come with the same warranty.

  1. Basic Warranty

    • The Ford Explorer comes with a three-year, 36,000-mile basic warranty (whichever comes first). This warranty covers every factory-installed part on your Explorer.

    Drivetrain Warranty

    • The Explorer comes with a five-year, 60,000-mile (whichever comes first) drivetrain (also called powertrain) warranty. This warranty covers major engine components, the transmission and the drive system.

    Roadside Assistance

    • The Explorer's roadside assistance coverage lasts for five years or 60,000 miles (whichever comes first). The warranty covers towing (excluding accident-related towing) to the nearest Ford dealership, lockout assistance, tire changing, jump-starts and fuel delivery.

    Limits and Exclusions

    • Ford will not cover any problem caused by neglect (such as a blown engine due to racing). Nor will the warranty cover physical damage (whether due to natural disasters or not), unless it is caused by a material defect.

The warranty period begins with the Explorer's original "in-service" date, or the date it was first registered as "sold."

    Where to Get Help

    • Any Ford dealer can honor your Explorer's original warranty. The dealer performing the repairs does not have to be the same dealer from which you purchased the vehicle.
