College grants are awarded to low-income students by organizations, schools, federal and state governments. Depending on the type of grant sought, students may also need to meet other requirements such as certain academic standards.
Basic Requirements

College grant applicants must be U.S. citizens or qualified non-U.S. citizens such as permanent residents. Grant providers also require college grant applicants to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

Students who are qualified to receive Pell Grants are also eligible for other types of grants, including the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant and the Academic Competitiveness Grant.
