Ear Ache Treatment Drops for Children

Earaches are a common condition in children and can be caused by an ear infection, a cold or swimmer's ear, which is when water gets stuck in the ear, usually while swimming. Ear drops can sooth a child's discomfort.

Medical Ear Drops

A doctor can prescribe an ear drop that has a numbing medication in it to ease pain.

Over-The-Counter Ear Drops

Non-medicated ear drops can be purchased at a drug store or grocery store. These ear drops work best when slightly warm.

Olive Oil

Olive oil is a household food item that works to sooth the itch that can accompany an earache. Earaches often occur during the winter when the air is especially dry, which causes itching.

Baking Soda Solution

To help loosen ear wax that can cause frequent earaches, dissolve half a teaspoon of baking soda in two ounces of warm water, then use a dropper to transfer the drops into the ear.

Vinegar Solution

A solution of vinegar and warm water or just vinegar will help defend against swimmer's ear. Vinegar will help kill bacteria that cause infection.
