Trivastal Side Effects

Trivastal, or piribedil, is a sustained-release tablet that can be used in addition to L-dopa therapy. Commonly prescribed for cognitive deficits, it may also be used for retinal ischemic issues.

  1. Significance

    • Trivastal successfully treats impaired attention, dizziness, memory deficits and Parkinson's disease in the elderly. A dopamine agonist, Trivastal affects receptors at the cerebral and peripheral levels.

    Dosage

    • At 50 mg per tablet, Trivastal should be taken once daily for the first week and gradually increased until optimal dose is achieved.

    Side Effects

    • Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, flatulence and drowsiness caused by taking the medication between meals or in too high a dose. These effects are generally experienced by those who are predisposed to certain medical conditions.

    Overdosage

    • Trivastal, in very high doses, will trigger severe vomiting. No data is currently available for over-dosage of this medication due to the emetic action.

    Warning

    • Always consult with a physician prior to changing a medication regimen or if you begin to experience uncomfortable side effects.
