Considerations
-
Researchers have questioned why there is so much drinking in Native American communities. One theory is that alcoholism is a predisposition that is passed on genetically. Finding a traditional treatment that works has been a challenge. In addition to this, it's difficult for Native Americans who successfully come out of treatment sober to return to a social support system, friends, and families that are still using alcohol.
