Spa Attendant Job Description

Spas are facilities that offer treatments like massages, facials, body scrubs and chemical peels. In addition to the licensed professionals who perform these services, these facilities employ spa attendants.

  1. Function

    • Spa attendants are responsible for attending to the needs of guests and keeping the spa clean throughout the day.

    Features

    • Spa attendants greet guests; provide towels, robes and refreshments; and sometimes set appointments and answer phones. Attendants also make sure the locker room and waiting room are kept clean and take used towels and robes to the laundry.

    Skills

    • Spa attendants must have good people skills. They need to be outgoing and friendly to create a welcome, warm environment. Their work usually requires a lot of walking and standing and may also involve some heavy lifting.

    Education

    • The minimum education requirement for a spa attendant is typically a high school diploma or GED. Some spas require attendants to receive first aid and CPR training from an organization like the Red Cross before they begin employment.

    Compensation

    • In November 2009, the average annual salary for spa attendants was $19,000, according to Indeed.com.
