What Is Veneer Plywood?
Veneer plywood is one type of plywood that is often used in woodworking and construction. It is engineered in different ways for many uses. Does this Spark an idea?

Veneer
-
A veneer is a thin layer of wood cut from a tree. The tree is usually softened by heat with steam or boiling, and is then sliced in one of four ways: pain sliced, rift cut, rotary or quarter sliced.
Veneer Plywood
-
Veneer plywood is a type of engineered wood made up of layers of veneer. The wood veneer layers are glued together in different ways and at different angles to make different strengths of plywood pieces.

Grades
-
The layers in the middle of the plywood are usually not seen after the plywood is used, but the top and bottom, called the face and back, are what you'll see when your wood project is complete. These face veneers are usually made of higher quality wood than the inner veneer layers, and are graded to help the consumer find the best plywood for their project.
Characteristics
-
Plywood can be a very strong wood. The number of veneer layers and the angle of each layer will add to the strength. Because of its construction, plywood is very stable under moisture and temperature changes, and can also be very impact resistant.
Uses
-
The possibilities for use are endless. Harder and stronger veneer plywood can be used for flooring or in building construction. Plywood can also be used for cabinetry or any number of woodworking projects.
