-
Warranty
-
Many mattress manufacturers require that you use a bed frame with your mattress and box springs set to make your mattress warranty valid. Some mattress manufacturers may additionally require a bed frame with central support beams.
Support
-
The bed frame acts as a foundation for the mattress and box springs to extend the life of both the mattress and box spring and prevent the bed from sagging in the middle or on one side from use.
-
Storage
-
Most bed frames create a space of at least 5 inches between the floor and the bottom of the mattress. This space can be used to store items like shoes or even for drawers to slide under the bed to hold clothing.
Height
-
Another reason people choose to place a bed frame is to lift the bed off of the floor and make it easier to get on and off the bed.
Head and Footboards
-
To install a headboard and a footboard, a metal frame is required. The head and footboards attach to the frame at opposite ends.
