New Mexico is the fifth largest state in the Unites States of American by landmass. Located in southwestern United States, New Mexico spans 121,598 miles. The population of New Mexico is diverse, predominantly comprised of Hispanic, Caucasian and Native American people. Visitors can select from a variety of events and activities throughout the year to experience all of these cultures.

New Mexico is home to many Native American tribes. While Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico, Albuquerque is the state's largest city. Hatch is the "green chile capital of the world". Truth or Consequences was named after a 1950s quiz show.

Carlsbad Caverns is a popular tourist spot. White Sands National Monument, located between Alamogordo and Las Cruces, is actually made of white gypsum. Carlsbad Caverns is home to nearly 400,000 bats during the summer.

A UFO supposedly crashed in Roswell in 1947. The UFO Festival takes place in Roswell every summer. The world's largest hot air balloon festival takes place in Albuquerque every October. The worlds largest enchilada is made every first weekend of October in Las Cruces at the Whole Enchilada Festival.

Hot air ballooning is a popular activity in New Mexico. Demi Moore and John Denver were born and raised in Roswell. Neil Patrick Harris is from Albuquerque. Ralph Kiner hailed from Santa Rita.
