Visa credit card users are entitled to certain rights.

Visa credit cards carry basic rights for all Visa products. These rights allow the secure, convenient use of Visa credit cards around the globe.

  1. Zero Liability

    • Fraudulent transactions on a Visa card carry no liability to the cardholder. When a transaction is reported within 60 days of the billing statement as unauthorized, Visa institutions remove the charges.

    Merchant Disputes

    • When merchandise is not received, is damaged or priced incorrectly, the credit card user has the right to dispute the charge. Visa most often sides with the credit card user and charges the transaction back to the merchant.

    Quick Resolution

    • When investigating fraudulent charges or merchant disputes, Visa institutions are required to extend provisional credit within five business days of notification. Once Visa completes the investigation, applicable charges are removed.

    Emergency Cash and Credit

    • In emergencies, Visa cardholders are protected from becoming stranded without resources. When a Visa card is lost or stolen, Visa will dispense an emergency cash advance or replacement Visa card within one business day.

    Assistance

    • Customer service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to access account information, report a lost or stolen card or request assistance. Call Visa Global Customer Care Services at 1-800-VISA-911.
