Pemphigus foliaceus is one of the rare pemphigus skin conditions that occur most frequently in people of Middle Eastern and Jewish heritage, according to the Mayo Clinic. It is a generally mild form of pemphigus.

    • Pemphigus foliaceus is unique among forms of pemphigus in that it does not affect mucus membranes like those of the mouth, according to the Mayo Clinic.

    Treatment

    • Treatment for pemphigus foliaceus may include anti-inflammatory drugs like topical or injected steroid medications, hydroxychloroquine or dapsone, according to the AOCD.
