Eye Lift & Puffiness
Puffiness under the eye is usually harmless, though it may be a cosmetic concern as it can make you look tired and aged. However, there are various ways to give your eyes a lift, either by natural means or by cosmetic intervention.
-
Causes
-
Age can cause puffiness to become more pronounced. Other factors include fluid retention due to changes in the weather, hormone levels, eating too much salt, not getting enough sleep, allergies or just plain heredity.
Home Remedies
-
The Mayo Clinic suggests different home remedies that can be used to get rid of puffiness. A cool compress (either a washcloth soaked in cool water, chilled teabags or slices of cucumber) can reduce puffiness. Other measures include getting enough sleep, sleeping with your head slightly elevated and avoiding allergens as much as possible.

Surgery
-
According to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstruction Surgery, eyelid surgery (or blepharoplasty) is a procedure in which the surgeon cuts just below the lashes in your eye's natural crease to remove excess fats, muscle and sagging skin to achieve a younger, firmer eye area.
Non-surgical Solutions
-
Non-surgical options include laser resurfacing, chemical peels and dermal or wrinkle fillers, which serve to improve skin tone and tighten skin under your eyes to reduce puffiness.
Eye Cream
-
Good Housekeeping magazine recommends using eye cream on a daily basis to reduce puffiness. Eye cream contains more emollient than regular facial moisturizer to nourish the sensitive skin under the eyes. It works by plumping up the skin around the eyes to provide eye lift.
