What Is the Difference Between Fraxel and Cooltouch?

Both Fraxel and CoolTouch lasers treat wrinkles, acne scars and photoaging. However CoolTouch lasers are also used for acne, varicose veins, cellulite, and hair removal, making them more versatile. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Fraxel Laser

    • Fraxel lasers are ablative CO2 lasers selectively applied to the skin that create a grid of microscopic wounds. According to the official Fraxel website, there are currently three different Fraxel lasers available: Fraxel re:pair, Fraxel re:store and Fraxel re:fine.

    CoolTouch Laser

    • CoolTouch lasers are non-ablative lasers, which work to stimulate collagen without damaging the epidermis. A freezing jet of water is sprayed onto the skin before each laser pulse, allowing the laser light to penetrate with minimal discomfort.

    Uses

    • Both the Fraxel and CoolTouch lasers treat aged skin and acne scarring. Special CoolTouch lasers also treat acne, varicose veins, unwanted hair and cellulite.

    Fraxel Results

    • Results vary depending on the intensity of treatment and the type of laser used. A single Fraxel re:pair treatment will deliver dramatic results. The less aggressive Fraxel re:fine laser has proven more suitable for minor skin damage.

    CoolTouch Results

    • Similar to gentler Fraxel lasers, CoolTouch therapy requires multiple treatments for optimal results. Results appear gradually over a period of several months.

    Recovery Time

    • Recovery time can take anywhere from a single day up to 10 days following a Fraxel laser treatment, depending on the intensity of the laser used. According to the official CoolTouch site, CoolTouch treatments require no recovery.
