Since 1995, laminate floors have served as an alternative to vinyl flooring. Laminate wood flooring is designed to imitate hardwood flooring, but is cheaper with additional benefits not found in traditional hardwood. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Identification

    • Laminate wood floors are made out of a composite of materials that are resistant to water. On top of the flooring is a high resolution image of wood.

    Features

    • The laminate hardwood flooring is made out of several wood layers. Lamination is used in order to make these layers of wood very strong.

    Warning

    • Laminate wood floors should be installed on flat, dry and smooth surfaces. The laminate flooring should not be build over radiant heat, since this heat can damage the flooring. Laminate flooring is best installed parallel to the light that comes into the room.

    Types

    • Laminate wood floors have a couple of different types of moldings, which include the base shoe molding, end molding, reducer molding and T molding. The molding is the part of the laminate wood flooring that fastens to other planks of wood.

    Repairs

    • Scratched and nicked laminate wood flooring is repaired using a laminate wood floor paste.
