Allergies of White Schnauzers
Schnauzers come in miniature, standard and giant breed sizes. White Schnauzers are most commonly found only in the miniature size. Skin allergies are the most common problem for Schnauzers and are caused by a variety of things.

Blackheads
-
Schanuzer Comedone Syndrome, commonly called Schnauzer bumps, refers to blackheads on Schnauzers. Usually occurring on the back of the dog, the bumps are harmless unless infected. Treatment is often unnecessary for the treatment of the bumps.
Fleas
-
Usually seen on the back or the base of the tail, Schnauzers can be sensitive to the saliva of flea bites. The dog will scratch or bite at the affected area, which can result in hair lose and skin abrasions. Flea control can help prevent flea bite allergies.

Food
-
Many skin allergies in Schnauzers can be helped with proper nutrition. A high-protein diet can help prevent dry skin and hair loss.
Enviornmental
-
Schnauzers can be sensitive to things in their environment, such as grass treatments, carpet shampoo, plants or other animals. The dog will scratch and possibly lose its hair on the underneath of the belly or on the paws.
Inhalant Allergies
-
Pollen, trees, other animals, dust mites and mold can sometimes affect Schnauzers when inhaled. Scratching, biting, chewing paws and constant licking can be signs of an inhaled irritant.
