Tree Fruit Harvesting Tools
Harvesting fruit from fruit trees is an exciting and rewarding experience. There are a number of tools which can aid the harvester in efficient processing of tree fruits. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Citrus Clipper
-
A citrus clipper is a hand tool for harvesting ripe fruits from citrus trees that minimizes damage to the stem and other fruits. The stem remaining after cutting with citrus clippers should be as short as possible; citrus clippers allow the harvester to get close to the stem and not damage other fruits.
Lemon Clipper
-
The curve of the blades on a lemon clipper allows the harvester to not damage the skin of the fruit when cutting. Lemon clippers can be used on other fruits such as grapefruit and oranges and are popular for their versatility.
-
Fruit Picker's Basket
-
The fruit picker's basket is a metal basket attached to a pole which is placed under fruit for harvest. The basket catches the falling fruit, which allows the harvester to remain on the ground while harvesting.
Pruner
-
A pruner is an excellent harvesting tool for tough tree fruits. Extending or telescoping poles can be attached to a pruner to reach large distances without a ladder.
Shake
-
One of the most effective methods of fruit harvesting from trees requires only a tarp. After placing a tarp under the fruit tree's canopy, shake the limbs vigorously till ripened fruits fall from the branches. It is important to catch them in the tarp to prevent bruising on the ground.
