Difference Between Indesign Cs2 & Cs3
Adobe added major features such as transparency effects, text variables and table and cell styles to its page layout program with the upgrade of InDesign CS3 from CS2.
-
Transparency Effects
-
InDesign CS3 added new transparency effects such as bevel, glow and gradient feather. InDesign CS2 possessed only two transparency effects: drop shadows and basic feathering.
Text Variables
-
The text variable feature introduced with CS3 allowed users to easily update running headers such as those in dictionaries.
-
Table and Cell Styles
-
Adobe added table and cell styles to InDesign CS3 to go along with the paragraph, character and object styles that were already in InDesign CS2.
MacIntosh Intel Processor Support
-
InDesign CS3 was the first version of the program to run natively on Intel-based MacIntosh computers. InDesign CS2 used the Mac's emulation software to run on Intel machines.
Additional Features
-
Other additional CS3 features included a multiple-item place function and three new search parameters.
Release Dates
-
Adobe released InDesign CS2 in April 2005 and InDesign CS3 in April 2007. InDesign CS4 was released in October 2008.
