Frankincense to Remove Skin Warts & Moles thumbnail
Frankincense might not work for everybody.

Derived from the gummy resin of the frankincense tree, frankincense has been used for ages as a common healing medicine. Today, it is often used to diminish warts and moles.

  1. Types

    • According to AltMD.com, warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes keratin, a hard protein in the epidermis, to grow too fast. While warts are generally skin-colored, moles are dark and sometimes quite big. Moles appear when skin cells grow in a cluster rather than evenly throughout the skin.

    Significance

    • With its strong antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, frankincense is very effective because it actually repairs the skin, soaking deeper into the skin than typical over-the-counter treatments. Because of its incredible abilities to repair the skin, alternative medicine doctors often prescribe frankincense for acne, cysts, stretch marks, varicose veins and wrinkles as well.

    Usage

    • Frankincense oil should be applied to a wart or mole (after the area of skin has been cleaned and dried) and then covered with a bandage that will help retain the frankincense's moisture. According to Everything Essential, frankincense should be applied two to three times a day until the wart or mole disappears and then continued for one to two weeks after to ensure its completely gone.

    Warning

    • In ancient times, frankincense was often taken internally, but this is no longer recommended. In fact, ingesting frankincense could potentially be very dangerous.

    Potential

    • Frankincense oil can be added to a warm bath as an all-over treatment for the skin. Not only will your skin benefit, but since frankincense is one of the most common oils used in aromatherapy because of its calming scent.
