The uvula is the small bell-shaped appendage that hangs down at the back of your throat. Its function is to help stop food from going down the wrong way. Acid reflux is when stomach acid finds its way back up the esophagus.

Stomach acid causes a swollen uvula. Acid reflux happens because the esophageal sphincter muscle relaxes when it shouldn't and allows stomach acid into the esophagus. This acid then irritates and can cause the uvula to swell.
Solutions

Time moves slowly when you are in pain. When the uvula is swollen and inflamed due to acid reflux the only way to fix this is to find the cause of the acid reflux and alleviate it. In the meantime eating ice cream and drinking cold drinks can help make the irritated uvula feel better.
